Apple introduced the next generation operating systems with the WWDC 23 event. The operating systems will be released for general use alongside the iPhone 15 announcement in September. The features of iOS 17 and other operating systems, currently undergoing beta testing, are starting to become clearer.
Siri features coming with iOS 17
Apple’s digital assistant, Siri, will undergo significant innovations with iOS 17. With these new updates, Siri becomes even more capable, serving as a better companion for Apple users. We’ve compiled the changes that will be made to Siri with iOS 17. Here are the Siri features that will be introduced with iOS 17:
Farewell to Hey Siri
In iOS 17, it will be sufficient to just say “Siri” to activate Siri. This means we’ll be bidding farewell to the familiar wake word “Hey Siri” that has been used for years. Siri, which will automatically activate upon hearing the word “Siri,” will now give a more natural impression.
Consecutive requests
Siri will be able to recognize multiple requests spoken one after another without needing to be reactivated. For instance, after asking Siri to tell you the time, within the same conversation thread, you can request Siri to send a message to your friend that you’ll be running late.
Article reading
A new “Siri” feature is present in Safari, enabling the personal assistant to read articles found on the internet for you. As long as Reader View is available on a website, you can say “Siri, read this to me” and have Siri read the content on the page.
Third-party messaging app support
When you ask Siri to send a message, you can now choose from which app to send it. This means you’ll be able to send messages not only from Apple’s native Messages app but also from third-party apps like Telegram and WhatsApp.
Siri can be active in standby mode
Siri can now transform into an in-home assistant on iPhone models. When you ask a question to Siri, a new full-screen user interface will show the results in landscape mode. For example, when you ask about the weather, you’ll see an informative screen displaying the current temperature and weather conditions.
With iOS 17, Siri will incorporate numerous new features. What are your thoughts on Siri and its new features? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments section
